It is believed - and quite rightly - that a distinctive feature of every genius is selfishness. This is partly justified and explainable: talent cannot be fully developed if absolutely everything is not thrown on its altar: tireless work, rejection of simple human joys and personal happiness, including even the well-being of loved ones. And it doesn’t matter who is in front of us - an artist, composer, writer or scientist. A genius must always receive (or bring to himself) a certain “portion” of victims, without which it simply cannot take place. This is a general rule, but, as you know, it is nevertheless obliged to be supported by exceptions.
