After leaving Nadzombat, Adam decided to continue his education at the university in Požoni. During the first semester of 1797/98, he attended lectures on philosophy, but soon classes had to be stopped. After the death of his brother Michael, Adam became the eldest child in the family, and it was on his shoulders that the worries about the material well-being of relatives fell; father alone could not cope with the maintenance of a large family. Adam was already 21 years old, the time of apprenticeship was left behind - he was forced to start working. In any case, Adam himself precisely explained the abandonment of the university and the entry into the service.
