So far, everything was just a prelude. The audience took their places, the doors to the hall were closed, the orchestra went on stage and tuned the instruments. Everything is ready, only the conductor is missing. Silence reigned for a while. Often it lasts no longer than a minute. This is a kind of silence, and it is difficult to describe. It feels like people were holding their breath in anticipation of a decisive moment and trying to gather their thoughts. The combination of intense expectation, joyful anticipation and alarming uncertainty is quite like - although perhaps this is a too daring comparison - in the mission control center before the launch of the spacecraft. And what, such a parallel is quite acceptable.
