At nine in the evening, the group was supposed to appear on the cover of "Rolling Stone" with fashion photographer Herb Ritts. Axl did not want to have a photo shoot on the day of the show, but Ritts was in demand, and that was the only free time he could offer the group. Izzy Stradlin arrived at Ritz’s studio on time and returned to his bus a short while later to read until the rest appeared. Axl and Stephanie arrived at three in the morning. The stylists did their work and six Guns members stood side by side, posing for the cover. Then Ritts made portraits of each of them. Axl was the last and seemed to enjoy the shoot, which ended at six, when pinkish rays of dawn glimmered over New York's skyscrapers.
