In Liszt’s personal life, in this turbulent and largely turning year for him, two more important events took place that could not be ignored. On August 19, Marie d'Agu's marriage was declared invalid. It cannot be said that her position after that became less ambiguous: having gained freedom, she was in no hurry to tie herself up with new marriage ties. Nevertheless, for Liszt himself, the news of the annulment of his beloved's marriage could not but bring some relief and hopes for a future happy family life, sanctified by church blessing. And happiness was just around the corner. At the end of the year, the first child of Ferenc and Marie, Blandina Rachelle (1835–1862), was born. The entry in the metric book read:
