Now Guns have become almost official residents of Troubadour, having come a long way in a year. “Every time we played there, a bunch of people didn't like us,” Axl recalled. But now Guns were considered cool. At a concert on July 11, Axl addressed the audience. He explained that the group was making an album for Geffen, but first he was going to release an independent longplay to please real fans. It was supposed to be something like an authorized bootleg based on the raw demo material that the musicians did with Manny Charlton.
