I don’t know how best to tell the end of Simon’s story. The fact is that this story consists of two elements, one of which is exciting events (you already guessed that it was an escape), and the other is much more important for me - the irony of Simon’s fate, the irony of his conducting career. Ideally, you should somehow balance both of them. I don’t see, however, how this can be done, but maybe you can somehow manage; how exactly - it's not my business anymore. I'll just tell you how it all happened. You see, just a week before the concert, Simon definitely knew what role he was given, and this dulls the irony a bit. When you write, maybe you should make everything a complete surprise for Simon.
