Buzzcocks - Reconciliation

Reminiscent of the old neoclassical Leipzig Gewandhaus building, built on the donations of citizens and opened in 1888, gave the name to the Consertgebau Orchestra founded in the same year. Designed according to the principle of “cardboard for shoes”, a large rectangular hall accommodates exactly two thousand listeners. Conductors and soloists descend the stairs leading from the tier, two dozen steep steps of which have become literally evil rock for many musicians. Herbert von Karayan, they say, closed the entrance to the hall several hours before the concert in order to calmly practice the descent to the stage. Recently I gave a concert there along with Zakir Hussein, a legend of the Indian percussion instrument, and we, as is customary for Indian musicians, had to go down the stairs barefoot.
