Around the same time, Axl made himself a canonical tattoo, which covered a significant part of his right forearm. Designed by Bill White and stuffed by Robert Benedetti in the Sunset Strip Tattoo, the drawing was a kind of Teutonic cross with portraits of five members of the group in the form of skulls. Axl was in the middle: red hair and a biker cap. Izzy was on top; Slash down in its cylinder with metal plaques. Stephen and Duff were located on the sides of Axl, as if thieves crucified with Christ. The new tattoo turned out to be such a powerful statement that it caused a lot of comments and enthusiasm. Axl later claimed that he got a tattoo just not to be so much like a shitty heifer when they went on tour this summer.
