It was Isolde's dying song. La Falterone, fearing to break her voice, never sang in Wagner's operas, but this thing, apparently, was often performed in concerts. And even if instead of the orchestral accompaniment, only the piano was heard - now it was already unimportant. The sounds of divine melody seemed to cut through the still air and flew over the water. In this romantic setting, in this starry night, they literally shocked. La Falterone’s voice was even now magnificent, juicy and crystal clear, and she sang with a rare feeling, so gentle, so beautiful, with such hopeless pain that my heart melted. When she finished, a lump got stuck in my throat, I saw that tears were flowing down her face. I didn’t want to talk. She, too, stood silently and looked at the eternal sea.
