So the love of rock music brought two different people together. Bill was hot-tempered, restless, blabbed, and got into trouble all the time. Jeff was characterized by a calm character, isolation and sarcasm and had the iron confidence that he was born for a rock band. They played all high school classes together in garage groups. At first, Jeff sat at the drums, and Bill sang and played the piano, then Bill switched to bass, and Jeff sang, then Jeff began to play the bass guitar, and Axl sang. But they did not have concerts, and there was nowhere to play, except to rent a hall and arrange dances. Local bars invited only country performers and cover bands, “which we hated then,” recalls Izzy. “When you are sixteen and you live in such a place, you hate everything around you.”
