Ede Reményi (Reményi, real name Eduard Hoffmann; 1830–1898) - Hungarian composer and violinist. He studied at the National Conservatory in Pest. He participated in the revolution of 1848, after the defeat of which he emigrated to the United States. From the 1850s he gave concerts in Europe; Having become close to I. Brahms, he made a joint concert trip with him (1852–1853). In 1854, he settled in London, where he was a soloist in the court orchestra. In 1860, having received an amnesty, he moved to Vienna, became a violin professor at the Vienna Conservatory and continued to tour Europe. Since 1875, he mainly lived in Paris, in 1878 he moved to the United States. Died during a concert in San Francisco. The composer's heritage mainly includes compositions for violin, including a concert, plays and transcription.
