In early October, List returned to concert activity and went on a tour of the cities of Thuringia. On October 22, the musician’s birthday, the solemn entrance to Weimar of happy newlyweds took place - Crown Prince Karl Alexander Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and his wife Sophia. The next day, Liszt gave a concert at the Weimar Court. On October 29, an audience was held with the Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna, who expressed her ardent desire that Liszt would constantly live in Weimar and become a court bandmaster. On November 2, a decree was issued on the appointment of Liszt to this position. But the time has not yet come to leave the hectic concert life. So far, Liszt has only made a commitment to spend three months in Weimar annually: two autumn months (September and October or October and November) and February.
