After returning to Paris, Liszt realized the unfair attitude of society towards creators and the belittling role of art: “When death abducted my father and I returned to Paris alone and began to understand what art could be and what an artist should be, I was literally crushed by the insurmountable obstacles that from all sides stood in the path designated by my thoughts. In addition, not finding anywhere response or sympathy - neither among secular people, nor less so among people of art, vegetating in calm indifference and knowing neither about me, nor about the goals that I set for myself, nor about the abilities that I am endowed, - I felt a bitter disgust for art, as I saw it before me: humiliated to the degree of a more or less tolerant craft, doomed to serve as a source of entertainment for a chosen society.
