Godsmack - I Am

Bill really liked the artsy Elton John, he knew all the tracks from the first seven albums of Elton, because he learned them. To develop his voice, he locked himself in the bathroom and sang to the best hits of Eagles. He and Jeff liked the famous English performers of that time: Bowie, T. Rex, Queen (especially the Queen II album), Electric Light Orchestra (especially Out of the Blue) - Bill saw their performance in Indianapolis. Friends also loved the English bands of the second division, having a special craving for Nazareth and Thin Lizzy with abstruse lyrics by Phil Lynot and the powerful sound of two guitars. On weekends, they stayed up late to watch In Concert and Rock Concert music shows on TV. Axl recalls: “In Indiana, everyone was extolling Lynyrd Skynyrd so much that they ended up feeling sick. But when “Free Bird" started, everyone made the radio louder.
