Giovanni Ricordi (Ricordi; 1785–1853) - Italian music publisher, founder (1808) of one of the world's largest music publishing companies, Ricordi Trading House (Stabilmento Ricordi), now called G. Ricordi & C, with branches and subsidiaries enterprises in many cities of Italy, Vienna, Paris, London, New York, Buenos Aires, Sydney, Mexico City and others. Initiator of the publication (1842) of the Milan Musical Newspaper (Gazzetta musicale di Milano). In the 1830s he published several works by M.I. Glinka, with whom he corresponded. After the death of Giovanni Ricordi, the publishing house was inherited by his son Tito (1811–1888), a friend and publisher of Verdi. After 1853, List worked precisely with him. Tito Ricordi's successor was his son Giulio (1840–1912), who also became a composer and music critic, writing under the pseudonym J. Burgmein.
