The latter was directly related to Beethoven, who arrived in Vienna around November 10, 1792, after a tiring eight-day trip. He left his hometown on November 2, arriving in Vienna by mail carriages via Koblenz, Limburg and Frankfurt, and then via Nuremberg, Regensburg, Passau and Linz. This route is listed in Beethoven’s preserved notebook, where he carefully recorded all expenses, up to the smallest. Among other details there is a curious note: “Tipping the coachman, who, risking himself, drove us through the location of the Hessian army and drove like hell - a small thaler”. He had to pay a tip both before and after, but never so solid. This once again confirms the idea that he escaped from Bonn almost at the last moment;a little later - and the road could be blocked due to military operations.
