Paulina Clementine von Metternich-Winneburg zu Beilstein (von Metternich-Winneburg zu Beilstein), nee Chandor (Sándor de Slawnitza; 1836–1921) - Princess, granddaughter of Chancellor Metternich. She married (1856) to her mother’s half-brother, Richard von Metternich (1829–1895), who, three years later, became the Austrian ambassador to Paris. Her Parisian home quickly became popular with writers, musicians and artists. She was personally acquainted and corresponded with Wagner, Liszt, Gounod, Saint-Saens, and Merime. Largely thanks to her efforts, three notorious productions of Tannhäuser were realized. Subsequently, abridged versions of Wagnerian musical dramas, including The Nibelung Ring, were staged in her salon.After the surrender of Paris in the Franco-Prussian War (1870) and the recall of Prince Metternich to Austria, she continued her educational activities in her Vienna palace.
