The concert was given in the hall of the Muller Gallery - the house of Count Dame, in which Josephine continued to live with four older children from her first marriage. Three younger girls born in marriage with Baron Stackelberg, her husband took away from her in 1814, and resorted to police intervention. In a tragic irony of fate, Josephine had to endure approximately the same thing as Johann van Beethoven, only in an even more cruel version: for a long time she did not know where her daughters were at all. She was able to see Laura, Theophilus and Minon only once, when the Baron briefly brought them to Vienna in 1819, and then again took them to his estate near Revel (Tallinn). Josephine, already hopelessly ill, refused to follow her husband. Formally, their marriage was not dissolved, but already in 1816, Josephine called herself not Baroness Stackelberg,and the "Dowager Countess Dame."
