It is completely incomprehensible and inexplicable how Franz Brentano, allegedly discovering in the summer of 1812 that an love relationship had developed between Anthony and Beethoven (suppose that this was so), could relate to everything so condescending. He could not find the obvious, even if Anthony tried to keep her feelings in deep secret. Franz Brentano had Italian blood flowing through his veins (this affected the appearance of all Brentano), he was not at all alien to art and music, and he could not be called a dry and pragmatic businessman, everywhere seeking only profit and ready to close his eyes to his wife’s whims, if these whims did not violate decency. Just in this case, decency was violated at almost every step - and yet, Franz Brentano did not try to get rid of the "third superfluous" in their family.This alone causes a feeling of implausibility.
