I understand that this hobby may seem strange, but I would not tell you about it if I were not sure that you were able to understand it. If you are pleased to know that you have completely cured me of it, then believe me: from now on, Serenade will not cause me anything but laughter and bitterness. I didn’t even suspect that the human throat was capable of making such sounds, and, of course, I didn’t guess what kind of performance you were going to make when you promised that I would hear your voice sooner than I expected. Just one more word: goodbye! I will not have the pleasure of meeting you at Mrs. Loxley Hall, as I am very busy and cannot be with her.
