Fun, elegant, constantly dancing, gourmet and carelessly flandering Vienna, charming Biedermeier - the style of "intricate coziness" that became fashionable after 1815, the measured life of resort towns like Baden, surrounded by beautiful romantic nature, the fascination of the crowns with Rossini operas and the dance of prima ballerina Fanny Elsler - and then, at the same time, oppressed by censorship, prohibitions on theatrical performances of both old and new plays,a sense of the constant presence of the police in everyday life, a ban on the public utterance of such words as “freedom”, “republic”, “democracy” ...
