Proponents of the “version of Josephine” are inclined to bypass the circumstance that her hypothetical stay in Carlsbad in July 1812 is generally inexplicable and unprovable. If she could come to Prague in search of legal advice or support for the relatives of Count Dame, then what could she do in Carlsbad? It is known that on July 25, 1812, Franz Brunswick wrote to Josephine to Vienna from Pest, responding to her business letter; therefore, Josephine turned to him around the middle of July - and, apparently, already from Vienna. Assuming that the period between July 4 and 15, Josephine spent in Carlsbad, she should have been registered there. There were extremely strict regulations on this subject. In the summer of 1811, Josephine was in Carlsbad with her husband and eldest daughter Vicki,so this registration procedure was not an unpleasant surprise for her. But in 1812 her stay there was not marked. It is most reasonable to assume that she did not come to Carlsbad at all.
