This year began with unforeseen unrest. But Ludwig II, learning about this, was not at all offended by a friend. The consequence of Ron Wolzogen’s rash act was not at all a catastrophe, as Wagner had seemed at first, but, on the contrary, a victory: the king officially announced that he would single-handedly lead the second Bayreuth festival, moreover, he refused the right to stage Parsifal acquired in 1878 in Munich without a refund paid for it.The king also reaffirmed his previous decision to put at the disposal of Wagner a choir and orchestra of the Munich Court Theater. The fate of the festival was decided.
