Hans (Janosch) Richter (Richter; 1843–1916) - Austro-Hungarian conductor. Born in Hungary. Since 1852, he sang in the choir of the Vienna court chapel. In 1860 he entered the Vienna Conservatory, studied composition and conducting. He mastered playing the piano, violin, horn and trumpet. At the end of the conservatory (1865) he got the position of choirmaster of the Vienna court opera. In 1868 he moved to Munich and became choirmaster of the Munich Opera; in 1869, he was the court bandmaster. Bandmaster of the National Theater in Pest (1871–1875), Vienna Court Opera (1875–1900). In 1875-1898 he directed the Philharmonic concerts in Vienna. Chief conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra (1904–1911) In 1911 he returned from England to Bayreuth, in 1913 he was elected his honorary citizen. He met Wagner and became close in the second half of the 1860s,he worked as an assistant, he copied the scores of the Nuremberg Mastersingers and Siegfried. He was a witness at the wedding of Wagner with Cosima. In 1876, at the First Bayreuth Festival, he conducted the premiere of The Nibelung Rings.
