Fantomas - The Omen

Presley was so sure that he could leave his mark on the cinema of the early sixties that he with great difficulty pulled out his impresario permission to temporarily forget about the role of a pop singer and star in the "serious" film - "Flaming Star". The director Don Siegel enjoyed a certain authority in Hollywood after the success of “Defilers of the Graves” in 1956, and the script of the film was alien to the manipulation of previous Elvis films. His character was a half-breed, torn between Kiova’s mother and father, the rancher, at the very moment when the war broke out with the Indians. The script was originally written for Marlon Brando, but he refused to withdraw for financial reasons, giving way to Presley. He coped relatively well with the role,which for the first time gained true dramatic depth under the pen of Nunally Johnson (screenwriter of the film "Clusters of Wrath"), but relations with Siegel were strained, and the fans reacted to the film coolly. If critics chanted the talent of the actor in chorus, his constant audience was disappointed with the picture in which Elvis performs only two songs.
