The group desperately needed money. Amplifiers and other equipment are dilapidated and require constant repair. They needed a van. They needed drumsticks, guitar strings, clothes, food and drugs. Duff worked in telemarketing; Slash was dependent on strippers from The Body Shop and The Seventh Veil clubs - his stripper girlfriends usually settled in decent motels or respectable communal apartments. Slash was fired from the watch factory because he kept advertising Guns on a pay phone. In general, Slash then made every effort to develop the group: he was engaged in advertising, flyer design, phoned clubs and, as he put it, "fucked with the right people." Stephen Adler tried several part-time jobs as a dishwasher, doorman, pizza cook, landscape designer.Izzy periodically moonlighted at a guitar store, but for the most part he pushed nonsense. Doors manager Danny Sugerman later said that “Izzy was known among LA drug addicts as one of the main suppliers of Iranian heroin, which then was a lot.”
