Leaving her parental home, Shunkin settled in Edoyabashi, and the faithful Sasuke followed her. During his lifetime, the old musician greatly appreciated the abilities of his student, and before his death he probably, as usual, bequeathed Syunkin a teacher’s license. Master Shunsyo himself chose for her the nickname Shunkin (which means "Spring Lute"), which included the first character of his own name. Shunsyo made a lot of efforts to help her beloved student achieve recognition in the music world: he performed a duet with her at public concerts, entrusted her with the leading parties, and therefore there was nothing unnatural that after the death of the teacher, Shunkin herself began to give lessons. However, given her age and such a special circumstance as blindness, it is difficult to assume that Syunkin really had a need for such an early separation. Likely,decisive role was played by her relationship with Sasuke. Parents probably decided that if her dubious and now obvious relationship with Sasuke was destined to continue, serving as a bad example for the whole servants, then it would be better for the two of them to leave and settle in another place, and Syunkin herself was hardly opposed.
