Beethoven went for walks in the vicinity of Baden, which he loved as much as in his youth he loved the surroundings of his native Bonn. True, there was no great majestic river, like the "father of the Rhine"; the narrow river Schwechat flows through Baden. If you go along its course to the west, you can come to the picturesque Helenenthal Valley with the ruins of a medieval castle. Another “Beethoven path”, marked on tourist guides, leads from the Baden spa park up to the “Beethoven temple” erected in 1927 - the rotunda with a relief mask of the composer in the wall and with an allegorical mural under the dome. From the rotunda, the path lies on wooded hills. Pines, oaks, maples, euonymus grow there, and plush densely winds on the ground, stones and tree trunks. Over the narrow path, now fenced with a railing, cliffs hang, between which, fighting for life,young and old pines rise, the roots of which are sometimes flattened by stone weight, but the crowns are heroically directed to the sky. Despite the fact that the cozy and fabulous Baden is only a few minutes away, nature looks wild here, and in some places even formidable, especially in gloomy and stormy weather.
