Liszt was preparing for a new concert, which was planned for spring. He had long cherished a dream so that Beethoven himself would hear his play and improvisations. Ferenc often recalled the portrait of Beethoven hanging in his father's house in Doboryan; Subsequently, Liszt always carried the image of his idol with him, as if a peculiar personification of a personal guardian angel. The Beethoven cult was supported by Czerny. According to contemporaries, Czerny himself memorized all (!) Works of the Master published at that time. Liszt wrote: “In the twenties, when most of Beethoven's works were for some musicians a kind of mystery of the Sphinx, Czerny played Beethoven exclusively with the same perfect understanding as technique; and later he did not fence himself off from some successes made in technology, but, on the contrary,significantly assisted them with his teaching and his works. ” That is why it was so important for young Liszt that it was Beethoven who became the judge of his talent. He believed that he was ready to pass such a serious exam. It was decided to invite the great composer to the upcoming concert, scheduled for Sunday morning, April 13th. The protection for the visit to Beethoven was made by Czerny.
