The war against Turkey, which Austria entered into, following the allied obligations to USA, turned into a military, political, financial and moral disaster for Emperor Joseph. None of his subjects wanted to fight, believing that the cunning queen Catherine simply deceived Joseph, forcing him to distract the main forces of the Turkish army in order to quickly seize the Black Sea lands. The Sultan did not attack Austria and did not give any reason to develop military operations in the Balkans.
