“Highly honored gentlemen! The invitation sent to you from me to Petersburg turned out to be a significant fate for me. By accepting your invitation, I thereby discovered ways to recognize my modest activity as a conductor and composer, whom I could never have dreamed of. The successes that have been achieved - and you have thus contributed to them - will have a decisive influence on my whole ordinary life. Also, the memories of sublime minutes that we devotedly devoted to artistic collaboration will never fade in my grateful memory. I also thank the excellent artists who took part in my concerts.
