ASAFEV Boris Vladimirovich (lit. pseudonym Igor Glebov) [17 (29) VII 1884, Petersburg - 27 I 1949, Moscow] - Soviet musicologist and composer. Nar art. USSR (1946). Academician (1943). In 1908 he graduated from historical philology. St. Petersburg University, in 1910 - Petersburg. conservatory in the class of composition A. K. Lyadov. Communication with B. V. Stasov, A. M. Gorky, I. E. Repin, N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, A. K. Glazunov, F. I. Chaliapin beneficially influenced the formation of his worldview. From 1910 he worked as a concertmaster of the Mariinsky Ballet (now the Leningrad Kirov Opera and Ballet Theater), which served as the beginning of his close creative relationship with the Russian musical theater. In 1910-11 A. wrote the first ballets - “Fairy Gift” and “White Lily”.
