DO (do) - in solimization, the name of the first of the six syllables of the hexachord, introduced in the 17th century. (possibly J. B. Doni) instead of the former, less convenient for singing. In France, Italy and some other countries - I stage of the main (C major) diatonic. scale, DOS. tone (tonic) to major (C-dur) and to minor (c-moll), prima tonic. triads to major and minor. See C.
